ISSUE 10 - FEBRUARY 2012

 

As we approach our 10th Anniversary in February, we´ve moved the Dive Centre to a fantastic new centre in Hotel Marino, still in Costa Del Silencio.( Click here to see the photographs and Google map). For our early customers from 2002 it´s a long way from the garage in El Fraile which served its purpose and although the Centre in Don Jose was fine, the closure of the hotel there meant little or no passing trade. The new centre is about 50% bigger than the old one with lots of seating areas to relax and fill out log books after the dive.

For some time we´ve been looking to address how we expand the business and cope with what we already had. As you all know, nobody runs a business like the owner and we are delighted to announce that we have merged with Sol Scuba which brings to the conjoined business, not only another PADI Master Instructor in Tim Smith but also we now have his wife Tara running the Centre which needs to be open all day. Tim did his Instructor course in 2009 with ourselves so we´ve known them since then. It´s a great fit because Sol Scuba´s historical business in a smaller local in Hotel Marino was the Discover Scuba programmes where we were traditionally weak and as a PADI Master Instructor he brings lots of experience, in addition to our own.
As far as you are concerned, nothing changes except we are in a better premises and we can arrange accommodation in the hotel, which also is an RCI resort for those of you with timeshare. So hopefully with your continued support it is onwards and upwards!

A real moment of pride for us was late in 2011 to be awarded the ultimate status within the PADI system, that is Career Development Centre, the only one in the Canaries and the recognition of outstanding contribution to Instructor Development. David has been awarded Platinum Course Director for the third year in succession and remains the only one in all of Spain. Of course we would say (Tim and I) that it´s us that do all the work! We´re also the only Dive Centre in Tenerife to have two PADI Master Instructors so you can be certain that you´ll always receive the best of training.

We have scheduled 4 PADI IDC´s this year, we have one starting this week and the next will be on the 26th May 2012. The additional resources that PADI have made available to you are - The Dive Theory Online which really helps to tune up your diving theory prior to starting the IDC, or if you wish to do some of the knowledge development portions of the IDC online, PADI have now made this available for you.

 

This year we´re offering a free PADI Specialty with every booking of a six dive pack or more. So if you want your Nitrox certification or Deep or maybe photography then check out the courses page on the website and see what appeals.

 

 

In addition to a price hold for 2012 and don´t forget your returners discount of 10%, the good news for our British customers is that the Pound is finally climbing against the euro. Currently in the exchange shops the rate is €1.19 , changed days from the one to one rate! This effectively means for you another 15% discount. As I sit here in 21º C sunshine and you fancy a winter/ spring break we can organise the diving and the accommodation, and with Ryanair flying out of more and more airports in the UK it´s never been easier to arrange a cheap package.
