Diving in Tenerife is
a wonderful experience with plenty of fish life. A particular
favourite dive site of ours is called Roncadores Del Faro. There
is always a large shoal of Roncadores or Grunts in English (pomadasys
incisus). They remain in the territory they have established
and are indifferent to the presence of divers. When caught and
taken out of the water, it makes a sound a bit like a snore,
which is the origin of its common name (Roncador means snorer
in Spanish).

From November until around
April is the season for Angel Shark (Squatina squatina)
or Angelote in Spanish. They lie motionless on the sandy bottom
and only the sharp eyed diver will spot them. The angel shark
is not usually a danger to divers, but if aroused can sometimes
act in a threatening manner.

Looking very relaxed
is Charlotte who came to Tenerife with her family to enjoy
our winter sun over Christmas and new year.
Congratulations to
Charlotte for completing her PADI
open water diver course.

Would you like
to complete your Instructor Development Course in our sunny
climate of Tenerife? Our next courses commences 14th May
2005.
Our Course Director,
Clive Albon has completed over 200 courses both in the U.K. and
in Tenerife so he knows exactly what is required to ensure success
for the candidates. For more information and details of our dates

What a brilliant way
to spend the last few days of 2004, diving in Tenerife. Whilst the
U.K. was very wet and windy, we had warm sunshine.
On the right is Monika,
Martin and David and on the left Charlotte, Ricardo and his 3 friends.
Congratulations to Monika
who spent 7 weeks with us completing her PADI
Divemaster Course. Whilst
Monika was busy with her course, partner Martin really got into
diving and completed both the Open water and advanced open water
courses. Best wishes to you both for the future.

Enriched
air diving (NITROX) is becoming more popular with divers as
they become aware of the benefits of diving with a richer mix
of oxygen. Agua Tenerife Diving Centre are the only British
centre in the South of the island to pump Nitrox onsite. |

We
have two smiling faces here of Marika & Jasper who enjoyed
a day of diving. Especially our famous feeding of the rays
dive site.

A
fairly rare species seen here in Tenerife is the Spotted
Burrfish (Chilomycterus reticulates). To defend
itself from predators it swells up, and with its body covered
in spines it looks very threatening.

We welcome
back Graeme & Ann for a week of diving. Here is Graeme with
his lucky mascot of a sheep, complete with fins, mask and scuba
unit - well no self respecting sheep should be without their scuba
gear!!
