Diving in El Hierro

La Restinga Harbour, El Hierro

We’d been promising ourselves a special diving excursion for some time so when Santa Claus brought David and I a brand new underwater camera we decided to take it to El Hierro for its maiden voyage.

We made a real excursion of it, taking a group of divers from the UK and staying in El Hierro for a week in mid-January.

The diving was spectacular and a few of the divers also tried out the scooters that were available locally. For those who would like to try this in Tenerife, we have a couple of water scooters at the Agua-Tenerife centre.

One of the divers, Pete Ewen brought his own Inspiration Rebreather with him from the UK. We provided the oxygen he would need during his El Hierro adventure, before we left Tenerife.

The new camera performed beautifully and it will be a joy to take it on trips in Tenerife waters and beyond. One of the specialised courses we offer is underwater photography so we are sure to put it to very good use in the coming months.
