emergency first response

Why Become an EFR Instructor?

There are many reasons for becoming an Emergency First Response Instructor.

Consider the following:

• No marketing restrictions other than those imposed by local regulation

• Performance based training – meaning effective use of instructor time through participant independent study

• High quality instructor and participant materials incorporating state of the art instructional design principles

• Up-to-date with current medical guidelines for layperson emergency care

• International in scope, allowing for local or regional variation of skill technique

• AED training incorporated into basic course offerings

• Simplification of teaching emergency care as mandated by research findings

• Divides primary care (CPR) and secondary care (first aid) into two separate courses, conforming to the international call for simplification of layperson emergency care training

How Do I Become an EFR Instructor?

If you are a PADI Divemaster (or higher) without a CPR and first aid instructor certification, take the full Emergency First Response Instructor Training course conducted by a PADI Course Director who is also EFR Instructor Trainer.

If you are a PADI Assistant Instructor (or higher) with a CPR and first aid instructor certification, you can take the Instructor Crossover Programme from an Emergency First Response Instructor Trainer.

Note: For both of these options, you must successfully complete the Emergency First Response Instructor exam.

What Subjects are Covered in the EFR Instructor Course?

To become an Emergency First Response Instructor, attend a full Instructor Training course or Instructor Crossover Programme from an Emergency First Response Instructor Trainer.

Here’s what the course covers:

• Emergency First Response orientation and why the course was developed

• Emergency First Response Corporation orientation emergency first response manual

• Orientation to Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care courses

• How Emergency First Response differs from other CPR and first aid courses

• Course design, flexibility and international consistency

• View portions of the Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care Video
